Lift lobbies and door surrounds:
twelve openings,
twelve sizes

The smallest package we make and the least forgiving. Three trades meet at the same opening, and only one of them can re-cut a part.

Fabricated in 304 or 316L in our own factory in Foshan, then trial-assembled before packing.

Why lift lobbies are their own job

It is the smallest package on this site and the one where millimetres matter most, because three separate trades arrive at the same hole in the wall.

Door surroundThree-sided frame around the lift openingFolded channel with a return, fixed to the wall, no visible screws. The wall is never square, and the surround must be.Square to 1 mm over 2.2 m

How a lift lobby runs

Fast, because there is little to argue about — provided the survey happens before cutting.

Set assembled, numbered per shaft

"One drawing per opening" is the whole trick. Twelve openings are twelve sizes. A drawing per type means eleven of them are wrong, and the wrongness shows as a wedge-shaped shadow gap because that is where the fitter hid it.

03

What goes wrong in a lift lobby

Every opening gets its own survey

Width, height and plumb taken at four points per opening, then drawn individually.

If skippedOne drawing is reused for twelve openings, and each one is packed out differently on site.

The surround is assembled before packing

Three sides are joined and squared on our floor, so the corner is a made joint, not a site joint.

If skippedCorners are cut separately, meet at 2 mm open on site, and get filled — on the part everyone touches.

Returns are decided after the survey

The reveal width is set from measured wall thickness, so the shadow line stays constant.

If skippedThe reveal is drawn at nominal, the wall is thicker, and the shadow line tapers from 5 mm to 12 mm up the same door.
