Mirror polish
reveals
everything

A mirror finish does not make a panel better. It makes a panel honest, at a magnification that no other finish gives you.

Why mirror is different

Every other finish scatters light. A brushed grain, a vibration texture, a matte bead blast — all of them turn a reflection into a glow, and a glow forgives a wave.

Mirror does not scatter. It reflects, which means the geometry of the surface is reproduced exactly, including the 0.5 mm wave you could not see before.

Where the extra hours go

  • Weld dressing to a higher standard, because filler polishes differently from parent metal
  • Progressive polishing through several grits, per part
  • Rejection rate: parts that pass a brushed inspection fail a mirror one
  • Handling: a mirror panel is a finished object from the moment it is polished

None of this is optional. A mirror quote that is close to a brushed quote is a quote that will be recovered somewhere else.

The substrate decides the ceiling

If the panel is 1.2 mm out of flat, mirror will show it. If the frame spacing is too wide, mirror will show the oil-canning. If the sheet has a wave from the mill, mirror will show that too.

This is why mirror work is often specified with a thicker sheet and a closer frame, even though the drawing did not ask for it. The finish is demanding it.

When to choose it, and when not

Choose it for a plane that reflects something worth reflecting, where the surface is not touched. Do not choose it for a door frame, a handrail, a bar front at hip height, or anything in a public corridor — you will be maintaining it weekly.

If the design wants reflection but the maintenance budget does not, a vibration finish in the same colour gets most of the visual effect and none of the fingerprint problem.
